Improving our understanding of climate extremes is a critical challenge. Extremes such as heat waves, hurricanes, floods, and droughts are rare, but have disproportionately large impacts on the health of society and the environment. Through my research I explore climate extremes with an emphasis on linkages between extremes and driving physical mechanisms and on quantifying the contribution of climate change versus modes of natural variability. I enjoy working in interdisciplinary teams and my own strengths lie in utilizing innovative methods including Machine Learning and Extreme Value Theory to improve our understanding of climate extremes and better prepare society for their impacts.

I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Geography at the University of Florida, specializing in AI and climate sciences. My research focuses on understanding, detecting, and predicting heat waves and extreme weather events through the integration of numerical climate models with deep learning models.

I am a fourth year undergraduate student in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Florida. I started working towards a GeoAI certificate in the summer of my freshman year and quickly developed an interest in geospatial data. Since then, I've worked on a bevy of projects involving this kind of data. Some of my projects include analyzing patterns of lightning strikes in Northern Alabama using kriging, helping students find study spaces on campus by developing a website, and using DeepForest to count trees in Gainesville. Recently I have been working in the Gator Glaciology Lab to geostatistically simulate the subglacial topography of Antarctica and I have had the privelidge of working on this dashboard to make Dr. Keellings and Mostafa Rezaali's research more accessible!
